Feira dos Alfarrabistas (Chiado) — A Must-Visit Vintage Flea Market in Lisbon
On Saturdays until 6 pm in Rua Garrett (next to the Guinness World Record bookstore Bertrand), you can find a Lisbon’s vintage flea market managed by owners of old bookstores, in Portuguese “alfarrabistas”. For the past twenty years, they have been using this weekly appointment as a showcase of books and old maps, stamps, coins and pictures.
Great for: books, postcards and old maps

A Saturday or Sunday stroll in the fanciest avenue of the city might bring you pearls and turquoise, leather bags, metal Martini plates, LPs with gnawed cases, and who knows how many other cobweb-festooned antiquities. This antique market in Lisbon gives also space for local artisans and vintage shop owners. It’s a great spot for some out-of-the box souvenirs along one of the cutest avenue — don’t miss it!
Great for: buying souvenirs
LX Market (LX factory, Alcântara)
This little village is a many locals’ hipster favorite spot to hang out too, and has some of the best markets in Lisbon. On Sundays, step beyond the iron gate threshold to find some of the best of local craftsmen — kitsch, second-hand, artistic and do-it-yourself shops. If you are a creative type, you will probably love every corner, from the bookshop with the suspended bicycle, to the organic products market, or the florists right next to the main entrance. And do not forget to stop by for a glass of wine, a healthy choice of dinner or some cool fashion accessories. Wander in and out of buildings, you will find little many hidden treasures. It’s a space where street art and crafts meet start-ups, boutiques and different gastronomic experiences.
Great for: hipsters and those who don’t want to just shop vintage
Feira da Ladra (Alfama)
Check the latest timetable here: https://informacoeseservicos.lisboa.pt/contactos/diretorio-da-cidade/feira-da-ladra
This is the most popular flea market in the city — and also one of the top things to do in Lisbon. However, not everyone knows that here you can also buy new stuff. It is located in the picturesque Alfama neighborhood. Explore the small cobblestones streets to find literally anything: from laced ceremony dresses to leather camera straps or carved wooden kitchen chairs. Oh, did I mention the incredible tiles? The market runs every Tuesday and Saturday but the timetable varies according to the season and the weather. As a general rule, summer goes from 6/7 am to 6 pm, while winter is up to 2 pm.
Great for: overall experience and location
Art & Flea Market Anjos70 (Anjos)
Check the latest updates and timetables here: https://www.instagram.com/anjos.70/
This second-hand market used to be located in the Anjos neighborhood, now it is hosted in Marvila and Alvalade. Every first weekend of the month, on these stalls, you can find hundreds of clothes — either new or second-hand — as well as handcrafted, artistic, decorative products and lots of indie stuff. This a real creative hub, especially the one located in Marvila. Besides the market, you can enjoy lots of events — check their Instagram page for updates. Anjos70 is probably one of the best spots in Lisbon of its kind.
Great for: young indie/creative/artsy people
Feira do Intendente (Anjos)
Check the latest updates and timetables here: https://www.facebook.com/feiraintendente/?locale=pt_BR
Generally every second Sunday of the month from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., there is an open market where you can second-hand and vintage clothes, locally crafted items, not to mention the gastronomical offer. Very often the event is accompanied by live music. Another unmissable event for lovers of the genre!
Great for: those who want a multicultural open air market
Some shops you don’t want to skip
Cantinho do vintage (Marvila)
This is more for connoisseurs — especially, given the prices. Regardless of your wallet capacity, if you get the chance, pay a visit to this industrial hangar. It is filled with home goods vintage wonders that look like anachronistic IKEA: from telephones with buttons to Piaggio Vespas, stuffed Seleco and whole living rooms composed right in front of your eyes. Impossible not to love it.
A vida Portuguesa (Baixa and other locations)
“Vintage made in Portugal,” but not only. Drop by and check for yourself — if your friends are left behind at home, this might be a great place to browse for souvenirs. There are handcrafted objects, authors’ notebooks with covers made of cork to port wine truffles or handmade soap for clothes. Want to save time or get an idea about their products? Visit their online store.
Besides the popular flea markets and some cute antique shops, there are some really old businesses still in operation that are worth a visit.
