Discover Lisbon virtually
Since 2020, we’ve been experiencing a revolution in what we can do seated from our couch. In this list, the item or experience listed with asterisk * may require a small fee.
Ancient Lisbon 3D Tour*
I had so much fun guiding this virtual tour, putting together some of the most emblematic history of Lisbon’s neighborhood before the infamous 18th-century Great Earthquake. A great experience for those who would like to be visually immersed in a Lisbon that exists only in books, now available virtually.

Street art lovers, this is pretty much your wikipedia when it comes of graffiti & co.
Roman Theatre in 3D
Lisbon at one point used to be Felicitas Julia Olisipo, one of the different names given by its equally numerous ancient populations. In this case, we’re speaking of the Romans, who built a theater on top of its highest hill — and this is what remains today.
Botanical Garden
Some of this garden’s trees date back to 1873, the year when Queen Maria II and her husband Prince Ferdinand founded the space as a recreational area for the royal family and a scientific institution. The downside is that, through this virtual tour, you can’t experience the fragrant species from Brazil, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand that delight every visitor’s nostrils.
São Carlos National Theater in 3D
Right in front of poet Fernando Pessoa’s birthplace, the São Carlos National Theatre is a neoclassical and late baroque opera house completed in 1793 that has been operating ever since. It is the oldest in Europe and has maintained its status as a cultural hub for opera and performing arts.
Fado Museum
Could Portugal even be Portugal without its music, fado? And what about the Portuguese themselves? I strongly doubt it. For music enthusiasts, here’s a list of Fado musicians and singers throughout the centuries and a digital archive of Fado songs.
National Coach Museum in 3D
The most significant collections of royal carriages in the world is in Lisbon’s National Coach Museum. Dates back to the 18th century, when Queen Maria I decided to preserve and showcase the carriages used by the royal family.
Calouste Gulbenkian Museum
Probably my favorite museum in Lisbon, as well as the brightest library you can hope to work from, with a view of the peaceful, well-maintained green space featuring gardens, sculptures, and a small lake. Calouste Gulbenkian was an Armenian businessman and art collector. Established in 1956, this museum houses his extensive art collection, featuring a diverse range of pieces from different cultures and periods.

Tiles Museum
For Portuguese people, tiles are more than an ornament. Used in various ways and influenced by techniques from around the world, the Tiles Museum is the ultimate place to have the most complete glance at all that this country offers when it comes to delicate paint on a piece of porcelain.
